Student and Community Engagement for Social Transformation

The University of New Mexico’s Community Engagement Center (CEC) and El Centro de la Raza are hosting the Third Annual HAND IN HAND Student and Community Engagement for Social Transformation Symposium that aims to engage community members, students, staff and faculty who work with Albuquerque’s communities.
We will host a daylong symposium at the UNM Student Union Building with critical dialogues and presentations by community, students, staff and faculty. The dialogues will focus on current initiatives and topics relating to community learning, community research, and the social determinants of community health through a racial and social justice lens.
The day’s agenda will include creative expressions by local artists and youth, panel discussion with community, students, staff and faculty, and three-breakout session that will include interactive and engaging presentations on work that is currently being done in partnership between University and Community. The day will end with a dinner sponsored by the UNM Project for New Mexico Graduates of Color (PNMGC) that will include creative expressions and honor UNM Service Corps Member Alumni.
